José Toribio Merino
In-Game Biography
Security minister
Captain José Toribio Merino arrived in Antarctica atop the bow of his flagship, the Captain Prat, cleaving the frigid waves. He bit and clawed and bled to deliver to his fatherland its God-ordained slice of the ice during the Snipe War, saving it from the Argentine mongrels in the Battle of Greenwich Island. It was only thanks to his unshakable resolve that Chile's ambitions were not cast into the sea. And for all his sacrifice, the Hero of Snipe has been forced to grovel before limp wristed Santiago bureaucrats and crypto-Bolshevist diplomats as the commander of a mere military complement.
It is not a state of affairs Merino intends to let lie. For in the bowels of his ship, this destroyer of men has become a creator of monsters. Through the captain's dark arts, lowly marines will be turned into apex predators, instruments through which his honor will be avenged, his enemies ground into chum, and his nation will be redeemed. No matter the cost.
Governor
Vice Admiral José Toribio Merino arrived in Antarctica atop the bow of his flagship, the O'Higgins. Cleaving the frigid waves, he bit and clawed and bled to deliver to his fatherland its God-ordained slice of the ice during the Snipe War, saving it from the Argentine mongrels in the Battle of Greenwich Island. He's guarded it zealously since then, crushing the Bolshevist insurgents behind the Cautinazo and forging his marines into an unparalleled force for defense… and reconquest.
After uncovering the treachery of the depraved Argentine lackey Professor Guzmán and his communist henchman Jaksic, the watchful Vice Admiral sits undisputed at the steering wheel of Chilean Antarctica. And steer, he will. His administration cleansed of red vermin and foreign saboteurs, Merino and his stalwart crewmen are ready to part the seas once again, reclaiming everything Argentina stole, and more, honoring the memory of every man lost at Adelaide and Wiencke. Chile's craven, primitive foes will soon learn how deadly the cornered dog's bite can be. They will also find that Merino's hunger for revenge is as bottomless as his appetite for power.
But of course, there's only so much blood the Exile can feed him. Vice Admiral Merino's insatiable ambitions may lead him back to the mainland one glorious day. They're due for some pest control, after all.
