Paraguayan Bush War

The Paraguayan Bush War is a civil war fought in the Republic of Paraguay between the Colorado government and the United Front for National Liberation, an anti-fascist guerrilla group. It serves as a proxy conflict in the South American Cold War, with Argentina backing the government and Brazil backing the rebels.

Gameplay

FULNA (and Brazil) must accumulate 50% control in Asunción or in four different departments to overthrow the government, while the government (and Argentina) must prevent this at all costs until the 'Government mobilises against FULNA' mission is completed. Decreasing Stability benefits FULNA. Below 50% Stability, the Paraguayan presidency could be threatened, giving the rebels a significant advantage in the Bush War.

Outcomes

If the government successfully puts down FULNA, it stays in power.

If FULNA overthrows a government, a provisional junta will be formed consisting of Che Guevara (representing the communists), Alfredo Ramos (representing the liberals) and Rafael Franco (representing the Febreristas). After a month, the junta will collapse in the Battle of Asunción. If the communists or liberals are dominant, they will purge the other faction and assume full control; if neither is dominant, the battle stalemates before Rafael Franco takes over as President of Paraguay.
