The Battle for Italy is a diplomatic confrontation between the Organization of Free Nations under the United States of America and the Kyõiken under the Japanese Empire should the Italian Empire make efforts after the collapse of the Triumvirate to join an existing faction. The Greater Germanic Reich will attempt to manipulate Italy into remaining neutral and staying isolated.

The 'battle' is fought through a series of negotiations with Italy both sides conduct centered around making offers and concessions to the Italians in exchange for faction membership. The Italian delegation's position on the two factions is represented on an alignment triangle, and at the end of negotiations, if Italy is closer to one side than another, it will join that faction.

However, if neither side wins Italy, the country - as well as its vast oil reserves and control of the strategic artery in the Suez canal - will go into isolation.
