Guangxi is a warlord state in southern China, that is de jure a region of the Republic of China, but is de facto independent. It is bordered by Guizhou to the north-west, the Republic of China to the north-east, directly-administrated Japanese holdings to the south, Vietnam to the south-west, the Guangdong Special Administrative Region to the east and Yunnan to the west.

History

Guangxi Province was first created under the Yuan Dynasty, among a majority of other Chinese subdivisions. After the Wuchang Rebellion that sparked the Xinhai Revolution, Guangxi was one of the first provinces to secede and join the revolutionary coalition.

After losing the Guangdong-Guangxi war in 1922, Guangxi became a part of the New Guangxi Clique, one of the most loyal components of the Nationalist Chinese government; however, during the Second Sino-Japanese War, the New Guangxi Clique fell to the Japanese.

In the last few days of the Clique, Xia Wei overthrew the government and declared his own Guangxi Clique, swearing loyalty to the Japanese. However, Guangxi has maintained distance and distain for Tokyo despite managing to fill its coffers with Japanese funds, which Xia Wei has used to build up a rather impressive army.

Whether or not his army will see use is entirely up to external factors.
