Rudolf Hess (26 April 1894 – 1943) was a German politician, and a leading member of the NSDAP. Hess was appointed Deputy Führer to Adolf Hitler in 1933, he served in this position until 1941.

He would be removed from his position, after Hess attempted to fly alone to Scotland in an effort to negotiate a peace deal with the United Kingdom during the Second World War. However, he was arrested by the British authorities upon his arrival.

Following the German invasion of the British Isles, known as Operation Sea lion, he would be apprehended by advancing German forces. Hess would be tried for High Treason. Being found guilty in late 1943, he would be hung at the Glen Mill POW Camp in Oldham, Lancashire.
