James A. Farley is an American politician and the Democratic candidate in the 1944 American presidential election against the Republican Thomas E. Dewey. He lost the election, receiving 175 electoral votes and 18,207,984 votes.

James A. Farley was a close advisor to Franklin D. Roosevelt and served as Postmaster General of the United States from 1933 to 1940. He died in 1976.
