The Islamic Republic of Iraq is one of the breakaway states during the Iraqi Civil War following the death of Abd al-Karim Qasim. They represent the Shia Islamic population of the country, who have long been repressed by the Iraqi government. They are inspired by the teachings of Ruhollah Khomeini to create a Shia Islamic Republic.
