Valery Yemelyanov (born 24th May 1929) is a Russian neo-pagan philosopher and member of the Aryan Brotherhood.

History

Early-life

Valery Nikolayevich Yemelyanov was born in 1929 in the city of Moscow, which now is under the control of the colonial state of Reichskommissariat Moskowien. Not much is known about the life before German Reich invaded the Soviet Union, and even then, it is covered in mysterious speculations. The most appealing theory is that he joined the Red Army at a young age during World War II and deserted, never to be seen again until some time in the 1950s.

Revelation

During his time of absence, Yemelyanov wondered on how did the Germans crush his own homeland. He concluded, after researching about their philosophy and history of Russia that Russians were only weak, but not inferior to Germans, and instead, he realized that the ancient Slavic pagan religion of Rodnovery was long ago swept under the rug by Orthodox Christianity, and how until one day someone implements the religion in question back, that true Aryans will be lost forever in darkness. With this supposed revelation, he wondered around in war torn Russia until he found a place for what he needed to carry on his plan.

In-game

In 1963, Yemelyanov arrives at capital city of the Aryan Brotherhood, Permhaym. However, it is only a matter of time when his true plans will come into notion and liberate the true Aryans from their seemingly eternal darkness.

If the Brotherhood unifies Western Russia, there will be a power struggle between Yemelyanov and Dobrovolsky, as he leads the faction of reformists who want to free slaves who they deem as potential Aryans.

If Yemelyanov kills Dobrovolsky and wins the power struggle, he reveals himself as an adherent of Esoteric Nazism and renames himself Velimir, High Priest of Hyperborea and all Rus', and the ruling party to "Assembly of the Slavs" (Slavyanski Sobor). Gameplay wise, he has similar mechanics to Dobrovolsky, as he retains most elements of the former Aryan Brotherhood, but the key difference here is that his economy, while nonetheless using slaves, is less consisted of Slavs and more of actual non-Slavs as well as "degenerate Slavs" with either Marxist or Russian Orthodox identity. He will not pursue tank research, purely relying on harsh discipline that boosts up the professional level of the military in-game.

After all that it is completed, Velimir's diplomacy is focused on condemning false Aryan nations of the Third Reich and even Burgundy itself. At the super-regional stage, he enacts dezionization and demasonization programs in order to root out the non-pagan Slavic identities and non-slavic minorities, and importantly, he will also enact the trials of redemption in which where if slaves were to be free and join the army, they have to go through rigorous and deadly tests, as well as religious indoctrination.

Like Dobrovolsky, Velimir is hard to play, as he cannot reunify with anyone else and coring times are long, despite the now appearing Slavic nature of his state. However, given the fact that he has some boosts that Vagner has, it should be not too difficult to reunify and form Hyperborea.

Quote upon unification

"A thunderstorm was in our air; the nature that we are became dark - for we had no other way."

—Friedrich Nietzsche

Trivia

  • What makes Velimir interesting out of the most insane leaders is that almost all of his beliefs, from Slavs being Aryans to German being Asiatic vermin, were exactly the same ones he had in real life, with the exception of believing that Aryan Rus' came from outer space.
  • Hyperborea is a modified version of the original proposal for Komi's Burgundian System path, which would have featured neo-pagan extremists led by Andrey Dikiy. In the final release, Dikiy is merely a minister for Sergey Taboritsky, who ended up being Komi's Esoteric Nazi, although after the Holy Russian Empire collapses, Dikiy will lead the Regency of Holy Russia. This is somewhat referenced on Taboritsky's end as well, as the flag of the Holy Russian Empire is based on the flag of the political party Yemelyanov founded, Pamyat.
  • Amusingly, due to a bug, if Dobrovolsky manages to survive Yemelyanov's attempt to overthrow him and has him murdered, despite what should logically happen, Yemelyanov will still remain available as a general, and instead, a completely different general, Filip Leman, will be removed. This is somewhat of an inversion of an earlier bug, where if Yemelyanov successfully murdered Dobrovolsky, the latter would still remain available as a field marshal.
