In real-life, Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr was the fourth president of Iraq serving from 1968 to 1979, leading the same party that he leads in TNO. Ironically, his vice president and successor was Saddam Hussein, who in TNO, not only has no connections with Ba'athism, but is one of his opponents in the Iraqi Civil War.
