Fulgencio Batista y Zaldívar (born January 16th, 1901 as Rubén Zaldívar) was a Cuban military officer and politician who served as the elected president of Cuba and military dictator, when he was overthrown by the Cuban Revolution.

Fulgencio Batista was the president and military dictator of Cuba before he was overthrown by Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution. After the revolution, he sought refuge in the fascist regime of Rafael Trujillo in the Dominican Republic. During a later escape to Iberia during the game, he could be captured by Castro's agents, then taken to Cuba, tried in a trial, and executed in public TV.
