The Republic of Liberia is a country on the West African coast. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the south and southwest, Sierra Leone to the northwest and French West Africa to the other directions. Liberia is within the United States' economic sphere and is an observer member of the Organization of Free Nations.

Liberian politics are dominated by the True Whig Party which governs the country as a one-party state.
